On Saturday, May 2, 2015, the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) unanimously voted at a central committee meeting held at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani to embark on a nationwide demonstration to register the displeasure of students regarding the accessions by government and some key players in academia to compel students from henceforth, to pay utility bills.
The Central Committee of NUGS which is the second highest decision making body of the Union also formed a committee to oversee the organisation of this constitutional mandate.
The members of the committee are:
AKRASHIE REJOICE NUGS FC -CHAIR (0244287871)
JUSTICE EDWARD BAAH- UDS(NYANKPALA) (0247822785)
PAUL GYAN - UDS(NYANKPALA) (0548270430)
THOMAS TAKYI BONSU- CHRISTIAN SERVICE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE (0546060200)
BERNARD AMOH - UDS(WA) (0506443594)
All National Officers of the Union were also tasked by the Central Committee to ensure that they provided the needed support that will aid the committee's work. This would ensure that together, the students of Ghana could overcome the albatross of utility bills which they believe is unbearable to be added to the already high school fees considering the current economic crises in the country.
Signed
Iddi Muhayu Deen
NUGS General Secretary
Prosper Dzitse
NUGS President
