NUGS YENTUA DEMO UPDATE

The committee set up by the Central Committee (CC) of the National Union of Ghana Students, which is the second highest decision making body of the Union apart from Congress wishes to assure all students and the general pubic that it is in the process of finalising arrangements for the  planned demonstration against the payment of utility bills by students in public tertiary institutions.

The committee has met with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command and settled for Monday, 11th May as the date for the demonstration. Other details have been spelt out below:

All demonstrators are  to converge at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Freedom and Justice Park (Obra Spot), which is the starting point at 6 am and match through the principal streets of Accra. From Nkrumah circle to Farisco traffic lights, then UTC through to Accra Polytechnic to Nkrumah mausoleum and finally converge at the hearts park where a formal petition will be submitted.

We want to use this opportunity to invite students, parents, guardians  and all well wishers to be part of this demonstration for the sake of the ordinary Ghanaian student. Education is and must remain a RIGHT not a  PRIVILEGE as underscored in Article 25 of our 1992 constitution.

Aluta Continua! Victoria Ascerta!

Thank you.

Signed
