NUGS SALUTES WORKERS ON THE OCCASION OF MAY DAY COMMEMORATION

May 1, 2015

As the World commemorates International Workers' Day, the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) is pleased to on behalf of the students of Ghana appreciate the invaluable contributions of gallant workers in Ghana and the world at large towards the  socio-economic development of their nations.

In the specific case of Ghana, the Union is very much cognizant of the hassles and tussles they go through in their unwavering quest to serving the country amidst debilitating conditions of service which have been worsened by the seemingly unending energy crisis and other economic challenges.

This has culminated in a situation where many industries are folding up because of ballooning cost of doing business in the country and are therefore compelled by the circumstance to retrench some workers for no fault of theirs.

It is against this backdrop that NUGS wishes to use this milestone occasion to challenge our government to rise to the occasion and come out with pragmatic measures to arrest the aforementioned challenges for love of God and country. The ordinary Ghanaian worker has sacrificed and continue to sacrifice a lot for this nation against many odds and is therefore deserving of salutation and commendation from all quarters.

We wish to conclude by saying AYEKOOO to the Ghanaian workforce and we pray that the Almighty God replenishes their immeasurable efforts and sacrifices with His bountiful blessings.

Long live the Ghanaian Worker
Long live Mother Ghana

Thank you.

Signed

Iddi Muhayu-deen
(General Secretary)

Prosper Dzitse
(President)
