KNUST SRC ELECTIONS- MATTERS ARISING

If there is anything that saddens me about this whole election brouhaha of the supposed Dean's interference it is the fact that one strong bragging rights of a FULLY AUTOMATED FOOL PROOF BIOMETRIC VOTING ATTESTED TO BY CANDIDATES OWN AGENTS HAS BEEN LOST....THE CHALLENGE I THREW AS I PHONED IN WHEN THE PROVISIONAL RESULTS WERE DECLARED WAS THAT GOVT SHOULD TAKE A LISTEN THAT WE HAVE ENOUGH BRAINS AT KNUST TO UNDERTAKE ANATIONWIDE BIOMETRIV VERIGICATION FOLLOWED BY ELECTROMIC VOTING THAT CAN BE CONTED IN REAL TIME...

.My common phrase for is also lost.."WE ARE THE BEST UNIVERSITY IN THE NATION THIS IS KNUST WE KNOW WHO ARE THIS IS HALLOWED GROUNDS".

A second point is the sleepless nights some young people in UITS spent under the direction of the director has been poopooed.....three nights in a row they sweated with me in my office with the EC and his team to operationalise the process do the right thing

As for the deans supposed interference for which he must die...well the last time I checked he intervened to rescue at 830 pm 30 minutes after the official closure..... because intelligent reports told me that the 100 laptops we brought from Accra at a great cost needed to be taken way to prevent losses... That some strong boys had planned to take away. these laptops at an average cost of 3000GH ₵ per one.. and I needed to save the system some money....If strong boys gave me respect to allow me to take the laptops away...death to the Dean now is a bit over done.....History should tell you...I am your greatest friend critic defender for students right...those students who work with me know thiae i teach know I am still the no nonsense old fashioned Presbyterian who tries to walk the talk and talk the walk....

Pipe down relax sort out your differences learn for your examinations....... I could also have taken to the airwaves but to what point KNUST will be the loser

I am sure Aaron Duke Sasu has learnt in his young life that he may be smarter than myself but what he is yet to gain is the experience that only age brings.. I saw his being labelled as, KNUST administration man long before his young mind could appreciate; giving him at this point the benefit of the doubt. His opportunistic usage of the joint service platform twice when VC was there with perhaps a hidden political agenda. is now obvious to him if it was not then IHAVE THE UNPLEASNT DUTY TO PICK UP THE PIECES.... the jury is still out whether he got any advantage....I am glad I told his shenanigan minders once i got to know of his candidature...if i had power I would have disqualified him. i made my feelings known to him ..I told him in the face a day before the election of my total unhappiness. of what he did. he said he did not see my point and that he disagreed with me....... experience rather than smug smartness has won the day.... It is up to him to redeem that image. the idea that the best way for students to be heard when fighting the institution that gives them their degrees is activism INSTEAD OF DIPLOMATIC DIALOGUE IS A FALACY....the idea that students can be independent of the University that awards them a degree is an illusion.. Ask Kwaku Oppong , Yaw Odure Philemon Laar Eben Bonsra and Caleb Fuga and they will tell YOU JAW JAW IS THE BEST.. NOT WAR WAR...

THE SILVER LINING IN THIS SAGA is seeing the strongmen of KAT and KONTI unite on a cause for a proper peace long lasting peace at last instead of the artificial peace I sought to create early in my tenure. AT THE PEACE JUNCTION...... I hope strong boys will remember what brought them together and never go back to the old vomit of hostility..... miss Dumega Festival Jo Napen King David Majer Pee Freeman Strong boys do not create a jungle, assault and intimidate their your own elected leaders. it is ancient and Neolithic..in the 21st century. I expect these strong boys who know me as well as I know them take a path integrity and above reproach stance instead strong hand mafioso tactics..

Calm down my dear students your papa on location

OSEI-KUSI FOUNDATION DONATES TO ABIESI AND ITS SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES

The Osei-Kusi Foundation has once again transformed the lives of people living in deprived communities in Ghana. The Foundation has made another donation to people of Abiesi and surrounding villages like Tomkrong, Kofikrom in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The Foundation which was formed two years ago is focused on investing in young through mentoring, coaching, rural mission and scholarships made this donation with support from Dots Concepts Ltd, West African Aids Foundation (WAAF) and J Life Ghana.

The donation worth about GH₵ 5,000 made to the people of Abiesi Friday, 25th April, 2014 included clothes, shoes and bags for children and adults, cutlasses for farming, bags of rice, Bibles and educational materials like books, pens, pencils, boxes of chalks, rulers and inspirational books.

Even though the road connecting village was very bad, this did not deter members of the Foundation as they were seen carrying the items in their hands just execute their mission of going to the village.

Unlike the normal donation, the people of Abiesi and its surrounding communities were taken through sections of prayer, deliverance and fed with the word of God.

The programme saw an experienced nurse educate the people on negative effective effects of some common practices among people when illness surfaces. They were also screened on general ailments and given medicines were necessary and others with serious conditions referred to a clinic for further treatment.

The youth were also not left out, each one of them were interacted to by the life coaches of the Foundation. They soot to find out what were their problems and gave the necessary advice and encouragements.

Mr. Kofi Osei-Kusi, Executive President of the Foundation said in an interview with media that, the purpose of the donation was to help relief the people of their burdens and give them hope for the future.

When asked why they do life coaching for the youth, he noted that life coaching helps to build the can do spirit in the youth, prepare them psychologically and emotionally for life and gives them hope for the future.

Mr. Kofi Osei- Kusi also recounted that, some of the youth development programmes the Foundation is currently rolling are conferences on wealth creation on various tertiary institution campuses and a students’ community service award scheme purposed to cultivate the spirit of volunteerism amongst young people.

The chiefs and people of the village could not hide their excitement as they expressed their profound gratitude to Osei-Kusi Foundation.

The Chief, Nana Kumi Abiesi receiving the items on behalf of the people said he is excited by the kind gesture of Osei-Kusi and further called on the District Chief Executive of the area to fulfill his promise of improving their bad road, provision of health facility and a school.

Beauty Attracts Men But Wisdom Keeps Them

A wise woman once said, "Beauty attracts
men but wisdom keeps them. Elegance
catches men's attention but intelligence
convinces them. Nagging irrates men but
constructive silence weakens them.

The 'boy' in every man pumps out
occasionally, the ability to handle this is a
woman's truest maturity.

Men have secret struggles and silent pains,
should you ever find them out, you have
exhibited the greatest maturity.

In the long run your 'words' matter more to
a man than your looks, so invest in the right
words. Earn a man's respect and he will
consider you the yardstick for all his actions and inactions.

Learn to mold the moods of your man. Men will naturally give you their future if they can
recall your maturity in yesterday's issues...
Women are everywhere but queens are scarce. Let the queen in you come alive and he will hold you in high esteem.

God is wisdom. God bless you as you do His will.
Cheers!

:ENERGY END-USE INEFFICIENCY AND THE GHANAIAN EXPERIENCE

AHMED SALIM NUHU writes

:ENERGY END-USE INEFFICIENCY AND THE GHANAIAN EXPERIENCE
‘…Even the ECG office in your area runs on three solid generators and you are here complaining about power shortage…-
unknown’’
In the wake of frequent power outages in
country, I present this paper on what I
consider the consumers’ role in the
‘sustainable electricity shared responsibility’
with evidence from available literature on
the Ghanaian energy use experience.
There is no denying the fact that
sustainable energy is the basis of
industrialisation and that the economy
cannot be effectively restructured without
an efficient energy sector, both on the
demand and the supply side. Evidence from
the case of Fan Milk Ltd which cut its
planned investment by $5.8m in March
2014 as a result of the frequent power
outages, suggests that energy challenges
can have severe unanticipated
consequences on the mother economy. This
challenge is however, not only faced by
manufacturing industries as mining and
other extractive firms lose huge sums of
revenue during such periods just as the
service sector does. Frequent power cuts
lead to underutilisation of resources in
industry, low productivity levels, higher
production costs, and rise in general price
level, fall in government tax revenues,
budget deficits and attendant monetary
policy conundrums.
Whilst government has over the years,
demonstrated commitment towards
revamping the sector and placing it in a
position to meet our current energy needs,
it is vitally important that the consumers
also ensure efficient use of energy.
Consumers must begin to assess the
genuineness their energy demands. This
assessment has become exigent in the light
of the fact that energy demand has more
than quadrupled over the past three
decades (The Energy Commission, 2013).
Whilst some may attribute growth in
electricity consumption to expansion in
economic activity, available data indicates
that GDP over the same period has merely
doubled, implying a huge percentage of
electricity generated has not been
channelled into productive ventures, but
rather has been wasted (Agyarko 2010).
Again, whilst population growth, rapid
urbanisation etc. may also be blamed for
rising energy demands, Levine, et al (1995)
are convinced that growth in electricity
consumption needs to be tackled by
increasing electricity efficiency.
In a country where energy options such as
solar, wind and thermal are not readily
available, adopting measures to enhance
electricity end-use efficiency, so as to
reduce energy supply requirements will be
fundamental to our success in the fight
against power outages.
Consumers of electricity need to know that
unlike water and natural gas, electricity
cannot be easily stored. Energy is stored in
the fuel itself before it is converted to
electricity. Once converted, it has to go out
on the power line-and enters your homes
to power the TV sets and kitchen
appliances. Therefore anytime you sleep
with your TV on, your unused charger or
any electrical appliance on, you call for an
immediate conversion of the fuel into
electricity, increase the demand and your
bill irrationally. Also, you do not only
exacerbate the dumsor crisis but you
increase government subsidy payments as
well. These inefficiencies in energy use,
even raises more serious concerns about
government subsidies on electricity tariff.
Because even though they are aimed at
protecting consumers, they also aggravate
fiscal imbalances, crowd-out priority public
spending, and depress private investment,
including in the energy sector.
To this effect, I believe it will only be in our
interest as consumers of electric power,
whether families, firms or farms to ensure
that there is some compliance with efficient
use of energy. Just as inefficiencies have
negative effects on individuals and the
economy, efficient energy use tend to have
a healthy rebound effect on the economy.
Efficient energy consumers do not only pay
lower electricity tariffs, but also save in
income, spend on other goods and services
and collectively contribute to expanding the
size of our economy. Additionally,
government saves subsidy payment, invest
in other areas such as health, education,
security and ultimately development of
more sustainable energy sources.
But in all, whilst consumers resolve to
abide by energy efficiency standards, it is
also expected that stakeholders such as the
Ministry of Energy, the Energy Commission,
the VRA, ECG, GRIDCo and more particularly
the PURC and Energy Foundation intensify
their efforts at increasing energy efficiency
awareness amongst consumers. This I
believe will ably assist in cutting down on
‘artificial high energy demand’ and in its
small way, lend a short to medium-term
solution to our energy challenge.

Five Nigerian students at UCC arrested for murder

Five foreign students of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) have been apprehended by the police over the gruesome murder of their mate, Godwin Chukudi Ayogu, 19, a level 200 student of the school.
The suspects, who are all Nigerians, include Ogunsanyo Abayomi, 23, Obi Mnaetochi Brendam Ilozumba, 19, Oti Uchechukwu Chijioke, 20, Jimoh Oluwatobiloba Tim- ileyin, 21 and Isaac Ifidon, 22.
All five, being friends of the deceased, were arrested upon thorough investigations by the police.

They are currently in the custody of the Homicide Unit of the Police Criminal Investigations Department, Headquarters, Accra.
The Gruesome Murder
Briefing the media, Commissioner of Police (COP) Prosper Agblorh, Director-General in charge of Criminal Investigations Department, said die body of the deceased, Godwin Chukwudi Ayogu, was discovered at Amamoma, an outskirts of the Cape Coast university campus, with multiple stab wounds all over the body.

When the body was discovered, he had both hands and legs tied with a white piece of cloth, his throat slashed and his intestines gushed out, according to COP Agblorh.
The body was deposited at the regional hospital morgue, Cape Coast, for preservation.
Police preliminary investigations at the scene revealed that the deceased was killed somewhere else and the body dumped at the outskirts of the university.

COP Agblorh said tyre-marks of the vehicle which was used for committing the heinous act was found beside the body and was extracted by the police for investigations.
On February 21, 2G14, a post-mortem was performed on die body by Dc Patrick Kafui Akakpo of fee regional hospital and mff&esgp, the cause of death as stab wounds in the heart and multiple stab wounds^;

Investigations And Findings
GOP Prosper Agblorh said the Homicide Unit was charged to take over investigations. It was then revealed that suspect Ogunsanyo Abayomi, a friend of the deceased who Iived beyond his means, borrowed an unspecified amount of money from the deceased to add up to his, so he could pay his school fees.

He promised to pay bade within die shortest time possible, but failed to do so.
Having failed to pay the money owed to the deceased, the suspect went to the United Kingdom, promising to pay back when he returned.
On his return, however, Abayomi again failed to honour the promise and went ahead to rent a two-bedroom apartment.

Godwin, until his death, complained about the conduct and actions of his friend (Abayomi) to other friends on campus, adding that instead of paying his school fees to move to the next level of the educational rung, he lent the money given him by his parents to Abayomi.
On February 18,2014 – a day before his death – the deceased was seen in the company of Abayomi and Timileyin Jimoh at apartment to demand his money.
However, Chukudi went missing until his body was discovered the following morning.

Other Suspects
Further investigations disclosed that Obi Mnaetochi Brendan Dozumba was also a hostel mate and one-time course mate of the deceased.
During a programme at the university campus, Chukudi introduced his girlfriend to suspect Brendan who allegedly became interested in the lady and went on to propose love to her. The two were alleged to ave started dating secretly.

When the secret love affair between Brendan and the lady was discovered by the deceased, a heated argument allegedly ensued and the relationsnip between the two friends turned sour.
Investigations revealed that amongst the suspect, it was only Jimoh Oluwato- biloba Timileyin, who had a saloon car with Togo registration number 5227-AO on campus.
When the vehicle was impounded, the tyres marched with the tyre-marks found at the place die deceased was dumped.

Upon interrogation Jimoh denied having moved the car or lending it to anybody the night the body was found.

However, according to police investigation, Abayomi drove the car late that night.
When the news about the death of Godwin win broke out, suspects Ogunsanyo Abayomi, Oti Uchechukwu Chijioke, Jimoh Oluwatobiloba Timileyin and Isaac Ifidon, left the campus for an undisclosed destination, only to resurface later.

This action, according to COP Agblorh, confirmed the suspicion that the suspects had a hand in the murder of the deceased.
He said investigations were still ongoing

AVOID BREAST CANCER

A MUST READ..!!!

This is a vital information - literally of life and death - Be sure to read it and send it to those who will appreciate it.

WATER AND SOAP IN ARMPIT BEFORE BEDTIME
We spend the night with armpit deodorant in order for our armpit to smell good and fresh.
Some time ago, I went to a seminar on Breast Cancer, led by Terry Birk with support from Dan Sullivan.

During the discussion, I asked a good question: why is the most common place to develop breast cancer tumors near the armpit?.
My question could not be answered at that time.
This information was sent to me recently- I'm glad it has been answered.

Now I want to share the information with you.!
One of the main causes of Breast Cancer is the use of antiperspirant.

Most products on the market are a combination of antiperspirant/deodorants.
Look at the labels!
Deodorant is fine, however ANTIPERSPIRANT can be very harmful because of the concentration of toxins that causes cell mutation: CANCER.
Here's why:

The human body has few areas where it can eliminate toxins: behind the knees, behind the ears, the English areas and armpits.
Toxins are eliminated through perspiration.
The antiperspirant, as the name says, prevents you from perspiring, thereby inhibiting the body to eliminate toxins through the armpits-these toxins do not magically disappear. My question to you all-where does the toxin go? (Your comments please)

Most breast cancers occur in the upper outside quadrant of the breast area (see pic). More common in women however men are not free from this sickness too.
Breast Cancer can develop due to the use of antiperspirant instead of soap and water.
The difference lies in the fact that when men use antiperspirant, not applied directly to the skin, they do so in large part on the hair of the armpits.

Women who apply antiperspirant or aftershave- shaving the underarms, increase the risk due to tiny injuries and skin irritations which allows harmful chemical components to penetrate more quickly into the body,

Please pass this information everyone .....

Breast Cancer is becoming frighteningly common and this warning may save some lives.
If someone doubt this information, they can make their own investigations
They'll probably come to the same conclusion.

Is the world in a leadership crisis?

In recent the world has seen an unprecedented revolt against political leaders from different countries. The youth have risen against their leaders asking for their removal. this shows clear where the power belongs. Power indeed does not belong to one person but to the people and citizenry of any country. Many, have express their support for the recent uprising in the Middle East whilst others say it a bad precedent for the world. The question for the day. Is the world in a leadership crisis?

HEALTHY LIVING FROM UDS

Diarrhea diseases including Cholera and other
illnesses such as typhoid continue to impact
negatively on our health and hence our wealth. Our
healthcare facilities are choked with people
vomiting and passing stools. Many of these
diseases are simply a result of the filth we surround
ourselves with and our poor personal and
environmental hygiene.
Before cholera breaks loose once again and other
illnesses virtually drain all the fluids in our body, we
will master a few easy to follow steps that can keep
us safe.
Easy to follow steps that protect us from infectious
diseases:
A.
Wash your hands with SOAP and WATER (wiping
your hands in your clothes is unacceptable):
• AFTER using the toilet
• AFTER cleaning a child or adult
• BEFORE eating
• BEFORE cooking or handling food
• AFTER multiple handshakes e.g. after a funeral or
party
• BEFORE going to sleep especially for children.
These simple steps can reduce the incidence of
vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pains and certain
pneumonias.
B.
• Brush your teeth properly at least twice a day
(morning and last thing before sleeping. Toothpaste
must contain fluoride) – it may even protect you
from heart disease
• Two baths a day is ideal. Wash your hair regularly
and comb or brush it.
• Do not continue wearing soiled clothing – sweat,
grease/oil, ingredients from cooking etc
• Wash your clothing with soap or a detergent DO
NOT just air them out
• Hair in armpit and pubic area should be shaved
regularly
• Keep fingernails (especially) short to avoid
trapping dirt
• Wipe dry the area in between your toes after a
bath
• Change your underwear daily
• Do not wear socks unwashed for days.
• Wash your bed sheet and towel at least once a
week
C.
• All refuse should be well covered
• Indiscriminate defecation should be avoided (can
you imagine how faeces may leak into burst
pipelines?)
• All water storage containers should be tightly
covered
• Drinking water should be boiled and filtered (boiled,
at least), and allowed to cool before drinking.
• Eat food while warm and be sure the source is
reliable
D
• Ensure your gutters are clean
• Do not entertain pools of water – they can breed
mosquitoes
AS ALWAYS LAUGH OFTEN, WALK AND PRAY
EVERYDAY AND REMEMBER IT’S A PRICELESS
GIFT TO KNOW YOUR NUMBERS (blood sugar,
blood pressure, blood cholesterol, BMI)

KNUST TO GO BIOMETRIC

Finally, KNUST has accepted biometric verification for SRC elections. I hope you don't encounter the problems our national elections had! But as students of the law, let's analyze the legal issues here.

1. Who is to manage this biometric elections, SRC EC or the Dean of students?

2. If the latter is correct, is the elections legal since the SRC constitution expressly states that the SRC EC is responsible for the conduct of all SRC elections.

3. Does the Judicial committee have the power to sit on any dispute in relation to this elections

should any dispute arise since the DOS is not subject to the jurisdiction of the court.

4. Our constitution expressly states that our elections be conducted by ballot. Does it include e-voting? (check out the dictionary meaning of ballot) Good luck to you all

THE STATE OF THE KNUST LOCAL NUGS AWARDS***

(This piece was written by a KNUST student on the recently organized awards on campus)

SOCIAL CATEGORY

***STUDENT ACTIVIST***

Of course Stephen N. Opoku had student activist even when he had not done anything.. Anyways his managers Kofi Arko n Gideon Amankwah were the costodians of the awards... They jus gave it to him so dey can broadcast it as an achievemnt to campaign. This s evident cos among all d award winners, he s d only one who s announcing it tru whatsapp n facebook.

*** STUDENT ADVOCATE***

Caleb Fugah, d SRC prez had dat award jus to APPEASE N COMPENSATE him cos he deserved the best student leader, he himself confirmed it n professed, "i'm not afraid of competition". However, he was never nominated n interviewed for dat award ba rather for dat of the BEST STUDENT LEADER category, so what changed.

*** What s the essence of an ACTIVIST n an ADVOCATE whiles one is a subset of the other..

*** STUDENT LEADER***

How can d general secretary of a college, Afua Addae win dis award? Jus b'cos she s vying for SRC sec n wants to sell, she paid for dis award... This s a huge INSULT to ALL d presidents on KNUST campus, especially dat of the NUGS, SRC n CASS.

*** STUDENT WRITER***

It's very funny d CASS prez Salim who has not a single published article won dis award. Jus b'cos he writes on facebook on " KNUST Filla" n also told d organizers he doesn't deserve student leader so dey shld giv him student writer, prior to d program. Dat means he even knew already, wow.
*** STUDENT ENTREPRENEUR***

It is confirmed frm d managemnt team of Akosua Osei Boah, dat an amount of money was paid to secure dat award in order to help her win d SRC wocom...

SAMMY BINFOH, d NUGS Prez (National)  was invited but was not put on d High table. He nd his National executive that came 4rm Tamale, Accra, etc 2 grace d occasion were neva introduced. This is an Insult to d National-NUGS executives that came.

*** MOST PORPULAR WITH A PURPOSE***

Ah! how can "TWINS DNT BEG" win dis award? Dey were d organizers of d program n also on d panel interviewing all d nominees, so d question s, who interviewed them?...

***just to mention but a few***

Is this the FUTURE we are BUILDING for ourselves as FUTURE LEADERS of our COUNTRY.

Posterity shall judge us all cos what goes around comes around....
Thank you

A Short story: Beginning of NUGS agenda

When I woke up, the moon was brightening. Soft rays sifted through the curtains and filtered across the floor where I sat, feeling a sense of tiredness and a gush of emptiness in me, I reached for my dairy from beneath my pillow.

Am I dreaming? My body remained motionless, the feeling of me presenting my manifesto to the entire student Union, National Union of Ghana Student, I moaned.

I opened my eyes, my skin still tingling. The mattress on the other side of the floor was warm, I knew very well the woman who had come to support me was on the mattress by my side but she was not responding.

I’m dreaming, Akua Asantewaa, I called thought as she opened her eyes. She sat up. The room was decorated with white interior tiles, all lace and antiques— Kpogas finest suite. Her overnight cloth was in the middle of the hardwood floor, scattered on the floor was the saucers we had used previously for the biscuits.

Her NUGS attire on a Plexiglas structure where the laptop and the banners were placed in a peaceful mood beside the chair I had earlier sat on to have had the wine with her. Had I really had slept that far? I had memories—my body again etched with approaching her with soft kisses.

Akua Asantewaa turned to the other side of the floor where she had spent the night with me. There was an empty bottle of champagne, two glasses . . . and a note.

Rubbing the sleep from her eyes with the back of her palm, Akua Asantewaa drew the comforter around her soft African body and read the message on the note:

She turned to where I sat. Her encounter with the note had made her increasingly anxious about our safety. Her imagination was running wild.

“So,” I spouted from her back. “What does this mean?”

Akua ignored the comment and relaxed back on the mattress as she focused her eyes on the ceiling as if she was communicating with the wooden design.

Damn! Akua thought. “My father was once teaching me how to deal with messages like these”

“You seem uptight,” I said innocently. “Having trouble with your refusal to listen to your father’s instructions to learn how to decode messages like these?”

“Nothing serious,” she replied. But Akua wasn’t so sure. She wondered if I really knew the worth of messages that came in this form.

She took her laptop and began scanning the long lines of software’s her father had asked her to install, searching for anything that could be holding things up.

Edward came closer to her and observed her smugly. “Hey, I meant to ask you,” he ventured. “What do you make of that unbreakable message on the note there?”

“I’m sorry to trouble you again,” I said approaching sheepishly.

“I’m being a bit of a fool, I know. I was hoping to tell you personally how much I enjoyed our time together. But I’m not feeling happy right now over your sudden interest in the piece of note you have in your hands, why do you always want to get involved in something that does not make any sense”.“Perhaps, you remember perfectly how we came by this note yesterday” I concluded.

Akua got surprised now “do you know what this message can do to your intentions of running for the NUGS president.

I felt off balanced.

I did not know what to do next, someone was trying to play down my chances of winning the NUGS presidency. But many students knew I was not having any political backing, so I did not understand why someone had scattered messages across that I had taken money from a political party.

Standing and pushing my shirt into the trousers I wore, I looked at Akua with shocking eyes and a disbelieving mood.

Moving to the door that led to the main exit of the room, I turned and stared at her, looked down and turn towards the door and left.

She couldn’t believe what was happening between her and her trustees; they had actually betrayed her by leaking such information out, which could easily jeopardize the chances of me winning the NUGS elections.

Although she felt a little relieve over the fact that, behind every successful man was a woman, she was also convinced that behind every failing man was a woman with a lot of hidden agenda, for her, she would not be like the people who give up when they are failing because she was no more scared of the consequences.

WASSCE Malpractice: Okomfo Anokye SHS teachers using Whatsapp to help students

West Africa Examination Council has ordered for the immediate change of examination center for students from Okomfo Anokye Senior High School at Wiamoase in the Ashanti Region for alleged examination malpractices in the on-going West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The directive, which was issued this week, will see students from Okomfo Anokye Senior High School write the rest of their exams at the WAEC office in Kumasi.

The students, who were writing in the school premises as a center, are alleged to have been involved in various forms of examination malpractices. Some teachers from the school have also been implicated in the practice.

Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of Ghana Education Service (GES), Kasandrah Twum Ampofo, who confirmed the incidents to Nhyira News says the regional educational directorate has summoned authorities of the school for an emergency meeting on Saturday, April 5.

Ms. Twum Ampofo says WAEC officers paid an unannounced visit to the school on the 1st April, 2014 following a tip-off that some teachers were feeding students with solved questions by sending messages through social media platform,Whatsapp, in the examination room.

She says two teachers were arrested, when police and WAEC officers went to the school.

The arrest resulted in a scuffle between WAEC officers and the students but was later put under control by the police.

The embattled school was ranked third in the region and 15th in a nationwide ranking on the 2014 WAEC examination league table of second cycle institutions in Ghana.

However, the on-going revelations could cast doubt on the genuineness of their position.

Meanwhile, the headmaster of the school has declined to comment on the issue but noted that details of the incident has been forwarded to the Regional Educational Directorate.
